Electrical & Instrumentation Engineer (60–80%)

Location: Basel, BS / Remote

Workload: 60-80%

Responsibilities

  • Design, control, and implement electrical systems and products in accordance with project requirements, industry standards, and regulatory guidelines. 

  • Design and specify instruments and electrical installations in accordance with environmental conditions and process engineering requirements to ensure reliable system performance. 

  • Perform electrical calculations and analyses to ensure all safety requirements are met. 

  • Conduct detailed design reviews to ensure systems are feasible for commissioning and comply with regulatory and operational standards. 

  • Support with project management tasks and procurement processes including preparing tender documentation, analyzing bids, assisting with cost estimation, and liaising with vendors and suppliers to ensure budget-compliant project execution.  

  • Lead commissioning activities and perform site inspections to ensure compliance with project specifications and quality standards. 

  • Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve electrical and instrumentation issues during project execution and operational phases. 

  • Work collaboratively with other engineers and stakeholders to deliver projects from feasibility studies through execution design to commissioning and successful project completion.

Qualifications

  • Completed advanced degree in electrical engineering (or similar field). 

  • Professional experience in E&I engineering within the life sciences or food & beverage sectors. 

  • Solid background in cGMP regulations and their practical application to electrical systems. 

  • Hands-on experience using design and calculation software (AutoCAD, Revit, Caneco). 

  • Proven ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing. German is a plus. 

  • Capable of working effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team in an international environment. 

  • Willingness to travel to job sites as required, including international assignments (up to 40% globally).
